Senne Lammens handed one piece of advice after Man Utd star issued dressing room 'ban'

Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has called on Senne Lammens to continue flying under the radar at Manchester United . The 23-year-old shot-stopper has featured in the club's previous two Premier League fixtures and delivered impressive displays in both outings .

With the loaned-out Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir failing to convince under Ruben Amorim , Lammens arrived on transfer deadline day from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp for £18.2million.

The keeper was anticipated to claim the number one spot in goal and following an adjustment period, he made his bow against Sunderland in a 2-0 triumph. Lammens kept a clean sheet on his debut and delivered a vital yet low-key performance in United's 2-1 success over Liverpool last weekend.

His personality mirrors this quiet approach. He has allegedly forbidden any talk of clean sheets before matches as he considers it unlucky. This superstition extends to team-mates and relatives.

Double Premier League winner Lescott has encouraged Lammens to maintain his inconspicuous presence as this signals excellent goalkeeping displays.

"I think defensive players and goalkeepers, the more unnoticed they go in the game, the better they're performing," said Lescott, speaking on In The Mixer , brought to you by Sky Bet.

"If you're not talking about Lammens, it's a good thing. It's a positive. I think after like five or six games, all of a sudden, 'Oh, he's been in goal.' Then you're like, 'Yeah, he has done all right.'

"It's the same with defenders. I mean, when you hear their names in the press, they're up to no good. They have either scored or they've been sent off. I don't want that. I just want to go under the radar."

Lammens wasn't the sole new arrival that caught Lescott's eye during the clash with Liverpool. Matheus Cunha , who joined Old Trafford for £62.5m this summer, operated as a central striker at Anfield and troubled the Reds' backline.

It was his movement without the ball that particularly impressed Lescott. He added: "Cunha showed that it's important that forward strikers score but highlighted the importance of their role.

"Ball retention, I think that it is probably one of the most underrated things a striker has to do and be good at. Do you know what I mean?

"I think the ability to keep possession and just relieve pressure, get the team on the pitch, whether you're travelling or just holding the ball up and occupying that position and player. Cunha was top."
