Manchester United XI vs Man City: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League

Ruben Amorim hands Benjamin Sesko a start in the Manchester derby at the Etihad

Benjamin Sesko has been handed his first Premier League start when Manchester United face Manchester City at the Etihad.

Ruben Amorim hinted the Manchester derby was a “good moment” to start the £74million summer signing, following three top-flight substitute appearances of the bench.

“I think more than looking at exactly what he did during the games, it is what he can bring to our team," Amorim said of Sesko.

“If you see, against Burnley, he had some movements, especially inside the box, that we don’t have with Josh [Zirkzee], [Matheus] Cunha and even with Rasmus [Hojlund] in the past.

“We have a guy who likes to go inside the box to have a header, he can run - we need to use him more as a runner. He’s going to improve.

“You can feel that he feels the pace is different, he’s going to get used to that, but maybe, against City , it’s a good moment to start the game!"

Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot are unavailable for selection , so Amorim has been forced into changes.

Amorim confirmed in the pre-match press conference that Altay Bayindir would retain his place in goal despite the signing of Senne Lammens.

Bruno Fernandes does not move up into one of the dual No10 roles, but there is a change of central midfield partner for the United captain as Manuel Ugarte replaces Casemiro.

It is a straightforward swap at left-wing back, with Patrick Dorgu replacing Dalot. The 20-year-old was used sparingly by Denmark during the international break so should be fresh.

Manchester United XI: Bayindir; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Fernandes (c), Dorgu; Amad, Mbeumo; Sesko

Substitutes: Heaton, Lammens, Fredricson, Heaven, Leon, Maguire, Casemiro, Mainoo, Zirkzee.
