Chelsea cancel Jackson Bayern loan as he arrives in Germany after Delap injury

CHELSEA cancelled Nicolas Jackson's transfer to Bayern Munich as the striker arrived in Germany following the injury to Liam Delap.

The Senegalese striker was set to join the German champions on loan, but an injury to Delap in the 2-0 win against Fulham this afternoon will see him recalled to join the Blues.

Delap pulled up in the 12th minute of Chelsea’s 2-0 win at home to Fulham , clutching his hamstring.

The forward, 22, is expected to miss at least six to eight weeks through injury, but the move to cancel Jackson’s switch will see the Blues excused of a striker crisis.

Jackson, 24, was on the plane to Germany for his medical when he was told he will be returning to Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season.

Maresca was asked after the game about the possibility of cancelling the loan, but admitted he wasn’t sure at the time.

The Italian said: “We finished the game and come here, no idea.

"We're going to sit now and we'll see. Seriously, honest, I don't have any idea.

“When you have two strikers, it's enough. When one of them is injured for different weeks, probably it's not enough.

“Today we played more than one hour with Tyrique [George], and he did brilliant.

"The last game he played as a No9 was Man United at home last year. Again, we tried to use a different solution.

“If you remember last year, we used Pedro [Neto] in some games as a No9. It's because we are always looking for a solution, but for sure when you have two proper No9s, it's enough.”

Chelsea , who signed Delap for £30m from Ipswich in the summer, had initially sanctioned Jackson's loan move to Bavaria in a deal that included an option to buy worth £69m.
