Chelsea have agreed a package worth more than £70million for Nicolas Jackson to move on a season-long loan to Bayern Munich, with the German champions now having an obligation to buy the striker if certain conditions are met.
The Blues were initially supposed to receive £12.97million for the loan fee , but that has now increased to £14.2million. £56.2million was the fee for the option in the initial deal and that remains the same with the obligation.
The move was in serious doubt on Saturday evening, with Liam Delap suffering a hamstring injury in the win over Fulham. Chelsea decided to pull the plug on the loan deal and told Jackson to fly back to London having only just landed in Munich to finalise the move. Jackson and his representatives were left unhappy with the circumstances and have ever since been trying to salvage the deal.
Barat's efforts worked and Jackson will become a Bayern player. Chelsea are set to recall Marc Guiu from his loan deal at Sunderland, after the two clubs held talks on Sunday over the possibility. Guiu is set to provide cover for Joao Pedro as the Blues wait to find out the full extent of Delap's injury.
Jackson is set to leave Chelsea after two full seasons with the club following his £30million arrival from Villarreal in the summer of 2023. The 24-year-old striker divided opinion throughout his time at Stamford Bridge but will leave with a strong record of 30 goals and 12 assists in 81 appearances across all competitions for the west Londoners.
