Liverpool strike £35m Marc Guehi deal with star to complete transfer from Crystal Palace

Liverpool are set to sign Marc Guehi today. They have agreed a £35m deal to sign him from Crystal Palace . The defender is now undergoing a medical in London and will put pen to paper once it is all completed, barring any late snags.
The clock is ticking but there's plenty of time to get this over the line. Guehi had one year left on his contract at Palace but they have now reluctantly agreed to sell him, while they are now attempting to seal a last-gasp deal to sign a replacement.
Guehi’s switch to Anfield comes after what was a dream final appearance for the Eagles. He started, captained and scored for Palace in Sunday’s brilliant win against Aston Villa .
Asked about the speculation after that outing, he said: "I'm okay. I guess so. I don't like the limelight. I'm glad I have a good club and good teammates around me. When you focus on what is important, the football, it makes it a bit easier."
He added: "[The club means] a lot. I'm a south London boy, grew up in south London and captained the club from a young age. They have been fantastic to me and my family. A pleasure to play for this club."
Meanwhile, Palace boss Oliver Glasner shared his thoughts on Guehi’s future and expressed his desire to keep him at Selhurst Park - a wish that appears to have been ignored.
"I told the chairman we have to keep Marc if we want to play a successful season," Glasner told BBC Sport. We have no chance to find the right replacement in one day. We all agreed that we just sell Marc if we have the right replacement in the building.

"We wanted a replacement by 1 July. It is 31 August and we have no replacement. We have this agreement so it is clear from me. He is such a crucial player. He is one of our key players - he is our captain."
Guehi is not the only new face set to arrive at Anfield on deadline day. Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has also been undergoing a medical after the two sides thrashed out a £130m deal.
Once both Guehi and Isak are through the door, they will take Liverpool ’s summer outlay to over £450m this summer under Arne Slot . Their other lucrative signings include Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike - the latter having enjoyed a bright start to life on Merseyside so far.
