Coventry 0-0 Hull: Brawl Mars Tense Championship Stalemate

THE Championship clash between Coventry and Hull erupted into a huge brawl as tempers flared during a frustrating goalless draw.

Late on in the opening league clash between the two sides, Hull players stepped over the line with some overly enthusiastic challenges on the Coventry goalkeeper, Carl Rushworth .

In the final minute of regulation time, Tigers midfielder Matt Crooks had gone charging into Rushworth as he jumped to pluck out a cross from the left hand side.

The 24-year-old and defender Liam Kitching took issue with the challenge and confronted Crooks about it.

That prompted more players to rush over, with players from both sides seen grappling with one another.

Oli McBurnie - who signed for Hull two days ago on a free transfer after leaving Spanish club Las Palmas - was among those to rush over and get involved.

The 29-year-old was seen grabbing Rushworth to try and pull him away.

But after initially failing to do so, he then wrapped his hand around the neck of the goalkeeper.

Rushworth responded by grabbing McBurnie's shirt and angrily shaking him before team-mates managed to separate them.

The incident happened immediately in the view of the referee, who then proceeded to dish out three yellow cards to McBurnie, Rushworth and Crooks.

Frank Lampard 's Sky Blues enjoyed the lion's share of chances at the Coventry Building Society Arena this afternoon, having 17 shots to the visitors seven.

Chelsea icon Lampard was seen holding his hands behind his head just before full-time in a frustrating afternoon.
