Mascherano 'justifies' Luis Suarez: "There may be a provocation"
I nter Miami coach Javier Mascherano said his team's 3-0 defeat to the Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup final was "too much". "We tried to grow, unfortunately we conceded a goal in the first half. In the second half, we improved a lot, we dominated, we had chances to equalise. In the end, the 3-0 result is too much for what happened in the match," he said in the press conference after the match.
The Sounders thrashed Inter Miami 3-0 with goals from Osaze De Rosario, Alex Roldan and Paul Rothrock at Seattle's Lumen Field. At the end of the match, a brawl broke out with blows exchanged between Inter Miami and Sounders players.Cameras caught Luis Suarez apparently spitting at a member of the opposing team.
"Nobody likes that at the end of the game there are this kind of actions, when there is a reaction, there may be a provocation, but I do not know what happened," said Mascherano. The Argentine coach tried to look ahead after the match. "We want to go as high as possible and try to win the MLS Cup," he said.
