Chelsea made it two major honours for the 2024/25 season on Sunday as Cole Palmer inspired his side to a 3-0 victory in the FIFA Club World Cup final over Paris Saint-Germain in New Jersey . It comes less than two months after the Blues were triumphant in the Conference League, where they beat Real Betis in the final in Wroclaw. As well as this, Enzo Maresca 's side will be playing Champions League football next season after finishing in fourth-place in the Premier League. Colwill , who starred for the Blues throughout the campaign, has backed his team to surprise people even more next term and compete for the top honours available to them. Such a prediction speaks volumes about the confidence running through the Chelsea squad at the moment. "Yeah, definitely," the Chelsea defender replied when asked if they can compete for the Premier League and Champions League next season. "I said at the start of this tournament that our plan is to win it and people looked at me as if I was crazy! "So I'm going to say the exact same thing now going into the Premier League and Champions League. I think we're ready and we'll see next season." Chelsea are the first-ever winners of the revamped Club World Cup and while FIFA believe it was a success, it still has some way in going to reach the same level of the Champions League for example. Colwill, however, believes the tournament will become the pinnacle of club football. "In the future, I think this will be the biggest trophy of all," Colwill said. "It will be bigger than the Champions League and we were the first team to win it. "I've really enjoyed it, playing games every four or five days. Playing to sold out stadiums, playing against different teams who you would never normally get a chance to play. "I might be saying that just because we're winners now but I really have enjoyed it - and it's been good." Story Saved You can find this story in My Bookmarks.
