Christian Norgaard only joined Arsenal this summer but the midfielder already knows where he wants to go next. A return to Denmark is on the cards for the former Brentford star.

Norgaard, 31, joined Arsenal from the Bees during the transfer window in a £12million deal . The Dane signed a two-year deal, with the option for a third, as the Gunners paid up an initial £10m with a further £2m available in add-ons .

The 36-cap star's career took him from Lyngby, Hamburger SV, Brondby, and Fiorentina before he joined Brentford. Norgaard enjoyed six seasons with the Bees , two of them as captain, and helped the west London side win promotion to the Premier League and establish themselves in the top-flight.

Mikel Arteta has yet to utilise Norgaard in Premier League action but he has featured in the Carabao Cup win over Port Vale and played a minute of the Champions League victory over Athletic Bilbao.

Given his advancing years in football, Norgaard already has his mind on a return to his homeland for his final years. And only one team in the country is of interest.

"When I one day return to Denmark, it will be Brøndby," he said, via Ekstra Bladet . "Brondby is a club that I developed a special connection to when I played for the club. That’s why I can’t see myself playing for other Danish clubs."

Norgaard has also confirmed that the Gunners will be his final club outside of Denmark. Speaking to Danish outlet Bold , Norgaard said: “I can guarantee that Arsenal will be my last club abroad.

“I still want to return to Brondby when my contract at Arsenal expires. My contract is two years with an option for a further year.

“I would be happy to stay at Arsenal for the extra year if things develop in that direction. If it turns out that it wasn’t the right match, we’ll go home to Denmark after two years.”

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, who worked with Norgaard across his career, was pleased to see the player get a move to the top . Frank believes it was a good move for his north London rivals.

"It was a little emotional," Frank said. "I’ve known him since he was 15. He’s 31 now and I’ve been training him for 12 years so I can say that I’ve known him for a pretty long time."

"He’s a top player and I can understand why Arsenal went for him," he added. "I’m so happy that he got this great opportunity late in his career."

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
