Arsenal Face Athletic Club in Emirates Cup Finale

Arsenal take on Athletic Club in the Emirates Cup on Saturday. Mikel Arteta will know that there's still work to be done heading into a fresh Premier League campaign after a mixed-bag pre-season.

The Gunners kicked off their summer preparations with a 1-0 win over AC Milan last month, before putting Newcastle to the sword in a 3-2 win days later. Arsenal were then beaten 1-0 by north London rivals Tottenham, before losing 3-2 to Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

Ex-Arsenal winger, Nicolas Pepe, came back to haunt his former side during that match, finding the scoresheet alongside Karl Etta Eyong and Arnaut Danjuma to cancel out goals from new summer signing Christian Norgaard and skipper Martin Odegaard.

Arteta will have one last chance to tinker with his starting XI ahead of Arsenal's Premier League opener with Manchester United when the Gunners face Athletic Club on Saturday. And with many football fans nationwide hoping to tune in to watch the clash live, Mirror Football breaks down everything you need to know...

Arsenal face Athletic Club on Saturday evening, with the Emirates Cup final being hosted at the Emirates Stadium. Kick-off is at 5pm BST.

While a generous home attendance is expected for Arsenal's Emirates Cup clash with Athletic Club, football fans across the UK will also be able to tune in from the comfort of their own homes. That's because Arsenal.com will show the full 90-minute clash.

A pass to watch the game will set fans back £6.99, and it can also be watched on the official Arsenal app. Repeat showings of the fixture will also be shown every three hours after full time.

Founded in 2007, the Emirates Cup is an annual fixture hosted by Arsenal to cap off their pre-season preparations for the Premier League. Always hosted at the Emirates Stadium, the competition is a low-stakes exhibition and doesn't carry any official recognition like the FA Cup or the EFL Cup.

Arsenal have won the game on eight occasions, with their last title coming in the form of a 2-0 win over Lyon last summer. Other clubs that have competed in the competition include Real Madrid, Sevilla, Monaco and PSG.

Here's a look at Arsenal's pre-season schedule this summer:

Following their Emirates Cup match, Arsenal will turn their attention to their Premier League opener with Manchester United at Old Trafford, which is scheduled for Sunday, August 17 at 4.30pm. The game will be shown on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event from 4pm onwards.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
