Arsenal matches that Bukayo Saka could miss as injury timeline revealed

Bukayo Saka could miss up to five Arsenal matches after suffering a hamstring problem during Saturday's 5-0 win against Leeds United . The Gunners made it six points from six in the Premier League but the success was marred after both Saka and captain Martin Odegaard both sustained injuries.

While Odegaard has not yet been ruled out for this weekend's blockbuster trip to Liverpool, Saka is expected to be unavailable for around four weeks after limping off in the second-half against Leeds.

Mikel Arteta cut a concerned figure in his post-match press conference on Saturday and thought Saka had suffered a "significant" hamstring injury. However, Saka's issue is not as bad as first feared .

He might still miss at least four, if not five, games for the Gunners, though. Saka won't be involved in the clash at Anfield on Sunday and will be out for England's two World Cup qualifiers in the upcoming international break.

After that, Saka isn't expected to be available to feature in the home game with Nottingham Forest (September 13) and is facing a race against time to be available for Arsenal's first Champions League fixture of the new season.

The visit of Manchester City (September 21) will come four weeks and one day after Saka suffered the hamstring injury, meaning he should be on course to be involved against Pep Guardiola's side if the latest information is accurate.

But, due to the nature of hamstring injuries and Saka's history with them, Arsenal might want to take extra precaution and save him for an extra week when the Gunners face Newcastle United (September 28).

Sandwiched in between City and Newcastle is a Carabao Cup third round fixture, though Saka may not be expected to play in that regardless of whether he is fit and available or not.

Meanwhile, Arsenal skipper Odegaard also picked up an injury in the win against Leeds and left the pitch holding his left shoulder. Arteta said that he and Saka would have scans on Sunday.

Speaking on Saka and Odegaard after his side's thumping success against Leeds, Arteta said: "I haven't spoken to the doctor yet but for Bukayo to come off, it’s significant. He felt something while he was sprinting.

"That's never a good sign. We'll have to wait tomorrow. But he's had these injuries before. He knows exactly the feeling of that. So let's wait. [For] Martin [it is] something in his shoulder. Two negatives of the day."
