Academy ace Sam Mather could also be headed to Turkey
While the transfer window might have shut for England and the rest of the major European markets, the Turkish window remains open.
And Manchester United have been using it to their advantage, with Andre Onana set for a season-long loan move to Trabzonspor .
Not only the goalkeeper, but Tyrell Malacia could also be headed to Turkish side Eyüpspor with United agreeing on a loan deal.
The only thing left for the deal to go through is the left-back’s green light, which is yet to come, even though he has no future under Ruben Amorim.
Not only senior stars, but even academy wonderkids could be on their way to Turkiye, with The Manchester Evening News claiming Sam Mather could also be on his way.
The 21-year-old has played twice in the PL2 for the U21s, and has registered as many assists. But United feel the former England U19 international needs senior minutes.
And as relayed by The Peoples Person , the Salford-born attacker could leave permanently, or on loan but with an obligation to buy.
“Academy ace Sam Mather has also drawn suitors from Turkey, in addition to Germany and Sweden, this summer.
“United hoped to agree a permanent exit for the 21-year-old but a loan, with an obligation to buy, could also be possible at this stage.
“Other transfer windows still open where opportunities could yet arise include Greece (September 12) and Serbia (September 17).”
The left winger excelled for the academy last season, scoring 10 times in 13 games for the U21s. He had caught former boss Erik ten Hag’s eye, and was even part of the pre-season squad last year.
But with the addition of Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, there is very little space for Mather to breakthrough. As a result, he might be sold.
Unluckily for him, despite signing a new three-year deal last summer, his disappointing loan spell with League Two side Tranmere Rovers paved the way for an early departure from Old Trafford.
After sealing a loan in January, he went on to make only two substitute appearances before returning to Old Trafford.
