And the 53-year-old was back in Italy to see his former club face fellow giants Inter Milan at the Allianz Stadium.
However, Thuram's heart was left torn in two as he watched both his sons line up on opposite sides.
Thuram's youngest son, Khephren, was lining up in midfield for the Old Lady, while his eldest son, Marcus, was up front for Inter.
The game ended up being a thrilling seven-goal encounter, with both brothers getting on the scoresheet within six minutes of one another.
Entering the 76th minute, the game was deadlocked at 2-2.
But Inter ace Marcus, 28, then fired the visitors into the lead by heading home at a corner.
However, Khephren, 24, then hit back for the hosts with a header of his own.
And during his celebrations, the camera panned to Lillian, who was barely able to watch.
In the end though, it was his old club who had the last laugh with an injury-time winner from 19-year-old super sub Vasilije Adžić.
There was one hilarious moment during the game with the referee camera broadcast feature, when both Thuram brothers went up to the ref to contest the decision to award a foul.
The win put Juventus level on points with league leaders and champions, Napoli , with both having three wins out of three.
Meanwhile, Inter were left in the bottom half with just one win in the opening three games.
