Everton travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday, buoyed by back-to-back victories at their new stadium over the past week. David Moyes’s side showed no signs of nerves in their new home, securing 2-0 wins against both Brighton & Hove Albion and Mansfield Town. However, they now face a Wolves team riding high after earning their first win of the season in midweek.

It’s been a challenging summer for Wolves, with key players Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri departing, and Jorgen Strand Larsen also expressing his desire to leave. Despite these setbacks, Vitor Pereira’s men showed resilience in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, coming from 2-1 down to defeat West Ham United 3-2 at Molineux. Strand Larsen, who was the subject of a £50m bid from Newcastle United earlier in the week , scored twice to turn the match around.

For Everton, it’s been a highly satisfying week. After a disappointing opening-day defeat to Leeds United, they bounced back in style, marking the inauguration of their state-of-the-art stadium with a 2-0 win over Brighton last weekend. Jack Grealish made an impressive debut, providing assists for both Iliman Ndiaye and James Garner as 50,000 Everton fans celebrated their first three points of the campaign. Everton followed up with another solid performance at Hill Dickinson, comfortably beating Mansfield Town in the second round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday to set up a third-round tie at their new home next month.

Despite interest in Strand Larsen from other clubs, the Wolves striker is still expected to start this match, even though he is eager to secure a move to Newcastle before the transfer deadline. The Norwegian was one of several regular starters who began on the bench in midweek, as Joao Gomes, David Moller Wolfe, and Marshall Munetsi were given time to rest. Toti Gomes, who was sent off at Bournemouth last weekend, served his suspension against West Ham during the week and is now available for selection once again.

David Moyes also rotated his squad for their recent cup tie, but it would not be surprising to see him revert to many of the players who started against Brighton. The only likely change from last Sunday’s lineup could come at left-back, where Vitaliy Mykolenko is fit again after a short absence. His return should allow James Garner to move back into midfield, with Tim Iroegbunam likely to drop out.

Thierno Barry has started both of Everton’s last two games, playing around an hour in each and earning praise from pundits for his performances. He is expected to retain his place in the starting XI, despite Beto’s goalscoring impact off the bench on Wednesday.

Wolves: Sa; Doherty, Adbadou, Bueno; Hoever, Gomes, Andre, Wolfe; Munetsi, Lopez; Lopez

Everton: Pickford; O'Brien, Keane, Tarkowski, Garner; Gueye, Iroegbunam; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Barry
