Wolves star Jose Sa was drawn into an angry clash with supporters as he admitted that his teammates were “playing s***”. The Black Country outfit are marooned at the bottom of the Premier League following the weekend’s defeat to Burnley .

Wolves ’ latest reverse saw the club’s supporters turn on both the playing squad and the management team, with striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and manager Vitor Pereira involved in angry arguments with fans come the final whistle.

Goalkeeper Sa was also at the heart of a passionate exchange with supporters as he attempted to leave the stadium at the end of the game. Videos shared on social media showed the Portuguese shot-stopper deep in conversation with a number of fans, who were demanding answers for the club’s form.

During the chat, he conceded that the club’s defence was currently “unacceptable”, while questions of the players’ passion and club ownership were levelled at him. As Sa continued to remonstrate with the fans, he then admitted that he understood their frustrations, going as far as admitting that they were “playing s***”.

Wolves had found themselves 2-0 down to newly-promoted Burnley, only to pull the game back level. But a 95th-minute winner from Lyle Foster condemned the hosts to their seventh defeat of the campaign.

Boss Pereira was drawn into an angry exchange with fans in the stands. Explaining the clash, he said: "I have a lot of experience in football.

“Months ago, they sang my name because when I arrived, the club was in a bad position. Together, we worked fantastically to be here. I understand it is football. If we win two or three games in a row, everything will change."

Striker Strand Larsen was also forced to answer questions from angry fans and also offered his take. He said: “It's not nice to be a Wolves player or fan right now, and I'm really sorry to everyone out there supporting us.

“That is why we love and hate this game, and right now we hate it. Sorry to the fans for not being able to give them what they deserve.

He added: "It's not nice. We don't want that, but it's what you need sometimes, to let the frustration out. I was just trying to listen a bit, and we can understand the frustration."

Wolves are back in action on Wednesday evening as they take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, while they then take on Fulham at the weekend. Pereira is expected to be in charge for both of those games but the pressure could rise dramatically should the poor form continue.
