After an unusually sluggish opening to the campaign under Unai Emery , Aston Villa have rediscovered their rhythm and finally seem to be heading in the right direction. A trio of consecutive victories - over Bologna, Fulham and Feyenoord - has not only boosted morale but also re-energised the squad.

With newly-promoted Burnley visiting next, the Villains will be confident of securing a fourth straight triumph. Much like Villa, Burnley have endured a challenging beginning to the Premier League season.

Just a single win from their first six matches leaves them sitting 18th with four points. Emery's side, who have also managed only one league victory, are two points better off in 16th place.

Scott Parker's Clarets have endured a brutal spell. Back-to-back last-gasp defeats to Manchester United and Liverpool denied them vital, hard-earned points. Since then, their early-season promise has unravelled, with an EFL Cup exit at the hands of League One side Cardiff City followed by a humbling 5-1 thrashing from Manchester City .

With both Villa and Burnley eager to climb the table, the clash promises to be a feisty and hard-fought affair. Below, Mirror Football brings you everything you need to know - from TV details and kick-off time to the latest team news.

The showdown between Aston Villa and Burnley is scheduled for Sunday, October 5 at Villa Park, Birmingham. The match is set to kick off at 2pm UK time.

The game will be aired live on Sky Sports +. It's one of several Premier League matches kicking off at 2pm, so it won't be featured on the main Sky Sports channels (like Main Event or Premier League), but can be accessed via the dedicated + option. Coverage will begin at 1pm.

You can stream the match live through the Sky Go app or website if you're already a Sky Sports subscriber. For those without a subscription, NOW TV (Sky's streaming platform) provides day passes (£14.99), week passes (£29.99), or monthly passes (£34.99) to access Sky Sports+ coverage.

Match highlights will become available moments after the final whistle on the Sky Sports+ app. Comprehensive extended highlights will be posted to Sky Sports' official YouTube channel later in the evening.

For Villa, goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez remains a major doubt for the fixture after picking up an injury during the warm-up before Villa's midweek encounter with Feyenoord. The Argentine underwent a scan on Friday and looks set to miss out, with Marco Bizot poised to take his place between the sticks.

"He's just had a scan an hour before the press conference and I don't know exactly now if he's going to be available or not," Emery told reporters. "I don't know the scan result. But we are planning always to have players, two, three or four positions, and confidence to play with every player when they are available and when they are not.

"The players have to play with the same idea and the same way we are building the team. And Marco Bizot did it yesterday, a fantastic job, following the game plan, our idea and our demands on the field."

Elsewhere, Villa will be without key players Youri Tielemans, Ross Barkley and Tyrone Mings due to injuries. Jadon Sancho, who missed Thursday's trip to the Netherlands because of illness, is also a doubt, as is Amadou Onana.

As for Burnley, they arrive in the West Midlands with no new injury worries. However, they'll be missing Zeki Amdouni, Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts, who are all still out of action.

Roberts, who is yet to make his season debut, is back in training after a long absence but isn't expected to return until after the international break.

Villa boast a strong recent record against Burnley, winning three of their last four meetings and losing just once to the Clarets since 2015 - a 3-2 defeat at Turf Moor in January 2021.

However, Burnley have often found joy at Villa Park. In their last five visits, they've earned points in four of them, with a dramatic last-minute winner for Villa in their most recent encounter, back in December 2023, denying them a draw.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
