Wantaway Man Utd man told he’ll have to offer himself to Euro giants to secure move after snubbing them in 2024

Joshua Zirkzee has reportedly been urged to offer his services to AC Milan to seal an exit route away from his Manchester United struggles.

The European giants were said to have been in the mix for Zirkzee prior to his Old Trafford move in 2024, which saw him leave Bologna for United in a £36.5 million deal.

Milan had also tried for the forward once before and missed out, leaving them adamant that, if they were to ever revive their interest, they wouldn’t be making the first move.

That’s not to say they haven’t been keeping tabs on how he’s faring in Manchester, though.

This morning’s release of Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport verifies that Milan still have Zirkzee as a name on their shortlist, along with Strasbourg’s Argentine frontman Joaquin Panichelli, who’s scored nine goals in 10 Ligue 1 matches this term.

United’s No.11 hasn’t been able to replicate such prolific form, although you could argue he hasn’t really been given the chance to do so; Zirkzee has yet to start a game in any competition since 2025/2026 got underway.

In the Premier League, he has been utilised four times off the bench, with his lengthiest cameo coming in the form of a 59-minute stint when he replaced injured teammate Matheus Cunha against Burnley back in August. Since then, his appearances have not exceeded the 10-minute mark.

He did feature last time out in the win over Brighton and Hove Albion, but only for eight minutes, while the 24-year-old has also been an unused substitute for five whole fixtures.

After speculation began suggesting Zirkzee would push for a move away in the winter , it’s been reported that Ruben Amorim and INEOS will intervene to block his potential exit – even on a loan basis.

Amorim is keen to have as much depth at his disposal as possible, as he prepares to be without Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui for a handful of matches in January due to the Africa Cup of Nations.
