Victor Lindelof: Former Man United star to keep one connection to club
Former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof will continue some links to Manchester.
The Sweden international spent eight seasons at Old Trafford, moving from SL Benfica in 2017.
He won the league cup and FA Cup during his time at the club.
Lindelof played a total of 284 times for United but found game time harder to achieve in recent seasons.
As a result, the club did not offer him a new deal and he signed for Aston Villa as a free agent on deadline day.
He was linked to a move to Fiorentina in Italy that would have seen him reunite with former teammate David de Gea.
Nonetheless, he decided to stay in England and claimed he was super excited to join such a big club.
He also praised the atmosphere of his new home Villa Park and lauded the influence of his new manager Unai Emery on his decision to sign for the Birmingham based club.
According to his wife Maja Nilsson, who was speaking to Aftonbladet , the family will move back into their old Manchester home that they left after he departed United.
Commenting on the last week she said, “it has been the most special week of my entire life. I am completely exhausted. I don’t even know what to say. It has been so special. We have packed bags, repacked, repacked again, and I have been up at night. Yes, this is truly a special world you live in.”
She also added, “you are about to hear the worst. Now we are moving back to our house in Manchester, which is an hour and a quarter away. We felt that we could not move to Birmingham and put the children in new schools and do everything new for them when we are still so close to their home. It did not feel justifiable.”
Lindelof will commute every day to Villa’s training ground either by travelling himself or by hiring a driver.
