Former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane was involved in an Oktoberfest bust-up but claims he was “provoked and personally humiliated” with fans chanting against Galatasaray , whom he joined in the summer.
The traditional Munich festival is in full swing and Sane, who spent five years at Bayern Munich , was back in the city to enjoy the celebrations. However the German ended up being involved in a brief skirmish with a fan after being taunted by a group of Bayern supporters late on Sunday night.
The incident occurred inside the famous Weinzelt tent around 11pm, reports Bild . Sane was walking through the tent when a group of fans began shouting abuse, claimed several eye witnesses. They chanted: “Scheiß Gala!”, which translates to “s***y Galatasaray!”
Some witnesses have claimed that some of the remarks crossed into racist territory. The winger did initially try to walk away, ignoring the comments, but as the insults continued he turned to confront the group of individuals.
It began with a heated verbal exchange but the situation quickly escalated. One fan reportedly shoved Sane, who reacted, resulting in a brief scuffle before security staff quickly came in to separate the pair.
Sane has confessed that emotions boiled over but maintains he had been pushed to the limit. He said: "I was provoked and personally humiliated for a long time in the festival tent. Galatasaray was also insulted. In the tense atmosphere, I was pushed, and then a brief fight broke out. Of course, I should have been calmer at the time and ignored the situation. I learned from it."
The German winger enjoyed huge success during his time at the Allianz Arena, but a drawn out contract saga eventually saw him leave for nothing and head to Turkey. The way that played out may have angered certain sections of the fanbase.

Sane moved back to his homeland after a hugely effective period with City, where he won back-to-back titles. He signed during Pep Guardiola's first summer after excelling with Schalke. In England he earned individual accolades, being named the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2018.
He is now part of a lavishly assembled Galatasaray outfit with the Turkish outfit also landinf Victor Osimhen on a permanent deal in the summer. Sane is by no means a regular though and was an unused sub during the landmark Champions League win over Liverpool last week.
