Tottenham Hotspur have the opportunity to claim the top spot in the Premier League table when they host Bournemouth at their North London stadium on Saturday afternoon. Last weekend, Thomas Frank guided his side to an impressive 2-0 victory at Manchester City, while Bournemouth are still recovering from a second-round EFL Cup exit at the hands of Brentford.

Tottenham’s remarkable record at the Etihad continued, as last Saturday’s early kickoff saw two teams with strong starts to the season face off. However, Manchester City, who had been ruthless against Wolverhampton Wanderers, couldn’t replicate that form at home. Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Spurs with a brilliant counter-attack, before a costly error from James Trafford gifted Joao Palhinha the chance to double the lead. Frank’s resolute defence then managed to keep Erling Haaland and his teammates at bay throughout the second half.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth bounced back from their defensive struggles against Liverpool with a solid performance against Wolves. Marcus Tavernier’s early goal and Toti’s red card secured a 1-0 win for the Cherries last weekend. However, their fortunes quickly changed in midweek as Brentford visited in the EFL Cup’s second round. Goals from Fabio Carvalho and Igor Thiago on either side of halftime saw Brentford advance, leaving Bournemouth to focus on their Premier League campaign.

Yves Bissouma has yet to feature this season, sidelined by both injury and disciplinary issues. While a move to Galatasaray appeared to be on the cards, recent reports suggest the transfer may collapse due to concerns over his fitness. Regardless, the Mali international is expected to miss out, joining Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Radu Dragusin (ACL), James Maddison (ACL), Kota Takai (foot), and Bryan Gil (knee) on the sidelines.

Destiny Udogie (knee) and Manor Solomon (calf) remain doubtful but despite these absences, manager Frank is likely to stick with his successful lineup unless any late fitness issues arise. Both Richarlison and Johnson will be aiming to make history, as they could become the first Spurs players to score or assist in each of the opening three Premier League matches of a season.

For Bournemouth, right-back Julian Araujo will serve a one-match suspension after being sent off for two yellow cards in the EFL Cup defeat to Brentford. Adam Smith is set to replace him in defense. Araujo will be one of three absentees for the visitors, alongside Enes Unal and Lewis Cook, who are both sidelined with knee injuries until after the international break. Manager Iraola handed starts to Ben Doak, Amine Adli, and Eli Junior Kroupi in midweek, but is expected to revert to his preferred attacking quartet of Tavernier, Antoine Semenyo, David Brooks, and Evanilson, with the new signings likely returning to the bench.

Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Der Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Palhinha; Kudus, Sarr, Johnson; Richarlison

Bournemouth: Petrovic; Smith, Diakite, Senesi, Truffert; Scott, Adams; Semenyo, Tavernier, Brooks; Evanilson
