Tottenham handed huge Mohamed Kudus injury blow amid Djed Spence absence ahead of Champions League test
Two surprise no-shows ahead of a crucial European test
Tottenham have been handed a huge Mohammed Kudus injury blow as trouble for manager Thomas Frank continues to mount.
The summer signing has been Spurs’ most potent attacking threat this season but will miss the visit of Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Spurs are in desperate need of a morale-boosting win in Europe after a miserable home defeat to Chelsea at the weekend.
Kudus was scheduled to sit alongside manager Thomas Frank at the pre-match press conference later on Monday.
Djed Spence and Lucas Bergvall were also no-shows at Hotspur Way on Monday.
Bergvall was forced off against Chelsea on Saturday with a concussion , so he is expected to remain sidelined until after the international break due to medical protocols.
It remains to be seen if Spence’s absence is injury-related, having shown frustrations when walking off the pitch on Saturday evening.
Spence was involved in a public show of dissent towards Frank during the aftermath of the 1-0 home defeat to rivals Chelsea .
Frank walked onto the pitch after the match and signalled to Spence and Micky van de Ven to do a lap of the pitch applauding the fans , but both instead ignored their manager and walked past, down the tunnel.
The Spurs boss was seen glaring back at the pair, while set-piece coach Andreas Georgson was also unsuccessful in trying to keep Van de Ven on the pitch. Asked about the incident shortly afterwards, Frank told reporters: “I think that is one of the small issues ... everyone is frustrated. We do things in a different way, so I don’t think it is a big problem.”
Left-back Destiny Udogie returned from injury against Chelsea , so he is now expected to start against Copenhagen .
