Surprise Premier League boss emerges as bookies' favourite to replace Ruben Amorim at Man United - with three Champions League-winning managers also in the frame
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has emerged as the surprise bookies' favourite to become the next permanent Man United manager if Ruben Amorim leaves the club.
The pressure ramped up on Amorim after United were beaten on penalties by League Two outfit Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night as his tenure reached another nadir.
The 40-year-old, who was appointed last November, has now lost 17 and won just 16 of his 45 games in charge in what has been an extremely difficult period for the club.
United will be desperate to pick up their first victory of the season against Burnley on Saturday and if things don't improve quickly, Amorim's position may become untenable.
And, according to Betfair , Palace head coach Glasner is the current favourite at 7/2 to replace Amorim.
The Austrian has done an incredible job at Selhurst Park, taking the Eagles to their first ever trophies in the FA Cup and Community Shield, with the former achievement seeing them qualify for Europe.

Behind Glasner is former England boss Gareth Southgate at 5/1, although he recently told Daily Mail Sport that he has no plans to return to football in the immediate future.
Next in the odds list is USA Men's boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has regularly been linked with the top job at Old Trafford over recent years.
He is priced at 15/2 alongside Zinedine Zidane, but it is viewed as unlikely Pochettino would leave his current role in the run-up to a home World Cup next summer.
The likes of Unai Emery and Xavi come in at 8/1, while former United coach Kieran McKenna is priced at 10/1 alongside Andoni Iraola and Julian Nagelsmann.
Back in the summer of 2024 when Erik ten Hag's future at the club was unclear, Marco Silva and Roberto De Zerbi were tipped with a chance of getting the job and you can get odds of 12/1 and 16/1 respectively for the two highly rated managers to have more success this time around.
Elsewhere, a sensational, albeit unlikely return to Old Trafford for Jose Mourinho is valued at 20/1, while Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti is at 25/1.
Those fancying a bit of fun in the market can also have flutter on odds of 66/1 on both Jurgen Klopp and Roy Keane replacing Amorim, which would be sure to be blockbuster viewing.
Rounding out the odds is Keane's fellow pundit Gary Neville, who is priced at a whopping 100/1.
