Senne Lammens: Royal Antwerp “confident” of agreeing club-record deal with Man United

Manchester United are working on further improving their squad before Monday’s deadline.

Despite United’s abysmal start to the new campaign and Ruben Amorim’s concerning comments about his players, INEOS have no plans to jettison their head coach so early in the season.

Instead the club’s hierarchy are trying to bring in a new goalkeeper on the back of Andre Onana’s disastrous showing at Grimsby Town.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri , United are in talks with Royal Antwerp for the transfer of their highly-rated goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

It is claimed the Belgian outfit are “very confident” of selling Lammens to the Premier League giants.

Writing on X, Tavolieri revealed: “Talks has been accelerating in the last hours and RAFC’s now very confident to get the deal done during the week-end.”

It is believed the deal for the 23-year-old’s services is worth €25 million. Standing in at 6’4″, Lammens is viewed as the possible heir to Thibaut Courtois in Belgium, owing to his imposing presence and sharp reflexes.

In recent days, Galatasaray have tried to outbid United , but Lammens has given the “green light” to a move to Old Trafford. He will reportedly sign a five-year contract.

It appears the Antwerp number one’s exit is a matter of when, and not if, as Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad (via Sport Witness ) reports the player is out of group training.

Further, it is thought he will not be in the squad to face Westerlo on Saturday as Antwerp are anticipating a “major outgoing transfer.” Their current biggest sale is the €20m deal which took Arthur Vermeeren to Atletico Madrid in 2024.

Manager Stef Wils is quoted as saying: “Senne is following an individual program, in consultation with all parties. That’s a logical decision. Since this could be a major outgoing transfer, we want to minimise the risk of injuries.”
