Sean Dyche delivers latest Nottingham Forest team news ahead of Manchester United clash

Forest are bidding to beat Man Utd for a third game in a row

Sean Dyche has confirmed Chris Wood is one of several Nottingham Forest players who will miss the Premier League clash against Manchester United .

Wood, who scored in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford last season , has been struggling with a knee problem sustained while on international duty with New Zealand earlier in the month.

Despite limping off during the friendly draw in Norway, the 33-year-old managed to feature in Forest’s 3-0 defeat at home to Chelsea - a fixture that proved to be the end of Ange Postecoglou’s tenure at the City Ground.

However, Wood has been sidelined ever since, subsequently missing games against Porto in the Europa League and last weekend’s 2-0 loss away at Bournemouth.

Saturday’s clash with Man Utd comes too soon for the striker to return to action, though there is an expectation he will be available for next Sunday’s home game against Leeds.

Forest did a Premier League double over the Red Devils last season , but hopes of recording a third straight win in this fixture have been hit with Wood, Ola Aina , Angus Gunn , Dilane Bakwa and on-loan Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko all ruled out through injury.

“I have made a note of them because we have got a couple of knocks,” Dyche said in his pre-match press conference. “Angus Gunn hasn’t been playing but is part of the squad, but he has opened up his knee ligaments.

“Woody is going to be possible for the Leeds game. He won’t make this one. We will have to see how that goes.

“Ola is making good progress. Zinchenko is a no at the moment, unfortunately, and is going to be a bit longer than we thought.

“Bakwa is still a no but is making good progress. I’m having to read them off a list so I don’t forget them.

“We’re hoping no more occur, that’s for sure. A few knocks but nothing too serious at the moment.”
