You know the house classic Things That Make You Go Hmmmm… by C+C Music Factory? It featured Freedom Williams if you’re going to be pedantic and was a massive hit on dance floors and at raves in 1991, the season when Liverpool were defending their old First Division title, still a couple of years before the Premier League commenced.

The song sprang to mind in the 85th minute of the Reds’ big battle with Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday just seconds after Harry Maguire headed the visitors into a 2-1 lead they were not to relinquish.

Liverpool needed an equaliser to avoid a fourth straight defeat in all competitions following 2-1 reversals at Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the league, either side of a 1-0 loss at Galatasaray , so it was surprising Arne Slot hauled off Mohamed Salah and replaced him with Jeremie Frimpong.

In fairness, the move nearly worked as the former Bayer Leverkusen wing-back set up a glorious chance for Cody Gakpo only for the Netherlands international to direct a free header wide.

Still, it is curious that one of the most dangerous forwards in Premier League history was withdrawn from the action when an equaliser was desperately needed even though he was not at his best and didn’t seem to be struggling with an injury.

Salah has scored six times this term but half those goals have been for Egypt and he has not hit the back of the net for the Reds in any of his last five matches. Hmmm indeed.

Perhaps he can get back on track in the Champions League trip to Eintracht Frankfurt, who have won just twice in their last seven matches, which have seen one draw and four defeats.

The Bundesliga side have failed to score just once this season – when they were beat 3-0 by Bayern Munich a couple of outings ago – and their ten games have seen goals galore with over 2.5 being scored in all of them, over 3.5 in all bar one, more than 4.5 in six and with over 5.5 being clocked up on four occasions.

Turkey midfielder Can Uzun netted in six straight before going three games without scoring and is 7/2 with BetMGM to be on target against the Reds while Hugo Ekitike has made a solid start since moving from Frankfurt to Merseyside with five goals and is 31/20 with the same firm to make his old club suffer.

Liverpool have scored in every game apart from the defeat at Galatasaray so take over 3.5 goals at 27/25 with BetMGM.

C+C Music Factory also had a smash hit with Gonna Make You Sweat and the Reds have done that to their fans as they have been involved in late goal drama in the majority of their matches this term.

There could well be a late equaliser one way or the other in this thriller and the draw in Germany is 18/5 with Betfred, SpreadEx and Sporting Index while 2-2 is 12/1 with Unibet.

Fresh from the 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest which ultimately cost Ange Postecoglou his job at the City Ground, Chelsea can also wipe the floor with Ajax when the struggling Netherlands club visit Stamford Bridge for a Champions League group match.

The Blues will be boosted by the return from injury of Moises Caicedo, who played 45 minutes at the weekend and he is 15/2 with Paddy Power and Sky Bet to score against the visitors, who lost 4-0 at Marseille last time out after opening up the campaign with a 2-0 home defeat to Inter Milan.

Chelsea are 4/5 to lead HT/FT and a comfortable 3-0 victory is 15/2 with the same firm and bet365.

Tottenham are shaping up to be a better team away from home than they are in front of their own fans where their form has been patchy at best.

They drew 2-2 at Bodo/Glimt last time out and travel to Monaco, who shared the spoils with visiting Manchester City in a game which finished by the same score before the international break.

Another draw is 27/10 with Bet Victor and yet another 2-2 result at the final whistle is a widespread 10/1. Brennan Johnson is 11/5 with Ladbrokes and Coral to score at any time.
