Rangers have spoken to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about succeeding Russell Martin

Rangers have spoken to former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their search for a new boss continues, according to the Sun . Rangers are desperate to replace Russell Martin with a manager capable of hitting the ground running at the Ibrox club, and talks have been held with the Norwegian. Solskjaer was sacked by Besiktas in August after only seven months in charge of the Super Lig club, and Gers chiefs have approached him to discuss the vacancy at the club.

However, it is unknown whether he has plans to take the job as Rangers have other options lined up. They have also spoken with former Mainz and Union Berlin manager Bo Svensson. Talks were held last week, and while they were positive, the Dane withdrew from the race over the weekend. Kevin Muscat and Danny Rohl are also in the running for the Rangers job after Steven Gerrard rejected the opportunity to return following face-to-face talks. The Liverpool hero was in London to discuss with the Gers decision-makers, but he turned them down due to doubts over the current sporting structure at the club.
