Brentford star Igor Thiago has been told he could slot into most teams in the Premier League . The Brazilian lit up the London Stadium on Monday night as his goal helped put West Ham to the sword.

Keith Andrews' side won 2-0, with Thiago running the Hammers ragged all evening. The 24-year-old scored his sixth goal for the Bees this season and only a tight offside call denied him a brace in the encounter with Nuno Espirito Santo's men.

Thiago signed for Brentford in February 2024, with the move delayed until that summer's transfer window. However, has been plagued with injuries ever since his club-record switch from Club Brugge.

Such is the impact that Thiago has made this season, former West Ham and Chelsea star Joe Cole believes the striker could get into any team bar the elite sides like Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City . Cole also lamented that the Irons missed out on securing the services of the goalscorer.

“£27million is peanuts in today’s market,” he told Premier League Productions , referencing Thiago's undisclosed transfer to the Bees, which was thought to be in the region of £30m.

“West Ham will be on the other side thinking, ‘We’ve been looking for a centre-forward for a decade now.' And they still haven’t got one. He’d get into any team outside the top four in the Premier League, Thiago.”

Thiago scored 18 goals in 34 league matches during Club Brugge's title-winning campaign in 2023/24. He also won the Young Player of the Season in the UEFA Conference League that season.

Signed by now-Spurs manager Thomas Frank, the Dane had spoken about how Thiago was one for the future. "We are ahead of the curve. We have signed a key player for a key position," Frank previously said.

"He is hard-working and a very good pressing player. He is also a physical presence, very good in the box and can link the play." It's only now that Bees fans are perhaps seeing the true potential of their No. 9.

Speaking on Brentford's latest hero, new boss Andrews was delighted with his striker's performance against West Ham, with the victory putting the Bees 13th in the Premier League. "What we've seen from Igor Thiago is that he will score goals. He's a handful. He's a personality," Andrews said after the game.

Addressing if this was Brentford's best performance since taking charge of the club, he added: "Yes, I think so. We've shown parts in games and got good results, but performance-wise this is the most complete."

Next up for Brentford is a clash against Liverpool at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday evening. Arne Slot 's defending Premier League champions head into the game off the back of four defeats in a row.
