Police braced for London chaos after Tommy Robinson urged 'football lads' to support Biggest Free Speech rally with SIX Premier League matches to be staged in the capital on Saturday

Police officers from across the country will head to London for what promises to be a chaotic day in the capital – with SIX Premier League matches and two high-profile demonstrations due to take place.

Daily Mail Sport understands that the Metropolitan Police will be bolstered by resources from other parts of the UK as they attempt to keep the peace across the capital on Saturday.

Over a hectic 24 hours, derbies between West Ham and Tottenham and Brentford and Chelsea will take place, while to compound matters Charlton will entertain neighbours Millwall in the Championship.

Meanwhile, a march staged by right-wing campaigner Tommy Robinson , which he has claimed will bring thousands to the capital, will start from Waterloo while thousands more are expected to form part of a Stand up to Racism counter-rally, which has been backed by unions from across the country.

Robinson boasted ahead of his Biggest Free Speech rally that: ‘The football lads are coming from everywhere.’

Daily Mail Sport understands that the extra officers will be deployed to the marches in an attempt to ease the strain given the number of high-profile fixtures.

The scenario has been criticised by Paula Dodds, chair of the Metropolitan Police Federation.

‘We've seen multiple Metropolitan Police officers be refused leave and have much needed rest days cancelled,’ she said.

‘Our colleagues have and continue to lose time with their families, friends and loved ones because they have been pulled into London to police protests.

‘We must remember there are no "extra" police officers. Just the same hard-working ones having their days off cancelled, having to work longer shifts and being moved from other areas.

‘Officers are emotionally and physically exhausted. They have come under attack and been violently assaulted for doing the job society expects of them. The demand is relentless. And it's not sustainable.

’A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘Saturday will be a busy day in London and officers will be on duty in significant numbers to keep people safe.

‘A protest organised by Stephen Yaxley Lennon (Tommy Robinson) will take place at the southern end of Whitehall following a march from Waterloo.

‘A counter protest organised by Stand Up To Racism will also take place at the northern end of Whitehall following a march from Russell Square.

‘Officers will be deployed throughout the day to ensure both protests take place peacefully with opposing groups kept well apart.‘

There are a number of other events taking place on the same day, including multiple football fixtures, which will all form part of the policing operation.

‘We will provide further details, including any Public Order Act conditions in place, later this week.’
