Peter Crouch suffers embarrassing gaffe at Spurs' stadium for NFL clash

PETER CROUCH suffered an embarrassing blunder as he tried to become an NFL player for the day.

The retired striker was at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the Minnesota Vikings game with the Cleveland Browns .

Crouch , 44, was well received at the ground, having starred for Spurs between 2009 and 2011.

As part of the entertainment during the first quarter break, he tried his hand at being an NFL kicker.

He was presented with the challenge of scoring a field goal from 25 yards while wearing a Paddy Power shirt and torso pads.

However, it was not an ideal moment for Crouch as he skewed his effort wide of the posts.

To make the moment worse, he had started running off as if to celebrate a goal.

Fans found the miss hilarious as they reacted on social media.

One posted: "At least he didn't slip over like at the Liverpool vs Wolves game."

A second commented: "Crouchy should be able to do that in his sleep."

A third wrote: "How has he not done that?"

A fourth said: "He wouldn't have missed a header."

Another added: "They could have used him as one of the posts."

Tottenham were also represented at the NFL game by current players Djed Spence and Xavi Simons .

The pair were pictured on the touchline soaking up the atmosphere.

During his time in North London, he scored 24 goals and assisted 21 in 93 appearances in all competitions.

He hung up his boots in 2019 after a short spell with Burnley and finished with 106 Premier League goals to his name.

Meanwhile, in September, he was involved in another hilarious moment .

He walked out with non-league outfit Farnham Town as a mascot and towered over his footballer partner.
