Official: Antony completes permanent move to Real Betis

Manchester United have confirmed that Antony has sealed a permanent transfer to Real Betis.

Antony spent the second part of the 2024/25 season out on loan at Betis, where he enjoyed a massive uptick in form.

He had lost his place in the team under Erik ten Hag and struggled to break into Ruben Amorim’s plans upon the Portuguese coach’s arrival at Old Trafford.

His impact at Betis was immediate, as he played a key role in their sixth-place La Liga finish and their run to the UEFA Conference League final, where they fell to Chelsea.

United and Betis had been in talks for weeks to try and strike a deal for Antony but an agreement proved elusive.

A compromise was agreed between the two sides over the weekend but the deal was in danger of collapsing due to Antony’s unwillingness to forgo a significant portion of his wages, with two years still remaining on his Old Trafford contract.

Betis even issued a statement confirming that they had withdrawn their offer.

However, on Monday morning, David Ornstein broke the news that a full agreement had finally been reached between all parties and now, United and Betis have confirmed the same.

United have released a statement which reads, “Manchester United and Real Betis have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Antony, subject to international clearance and registration.”

“Everybody at the club would like to wish Antony the very best of luck for the future.”

Betis have also made Antony’s signing official with a video presentation, welcoming him into Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
