Nuno has a lot of work to do in his first home game in charge of the Irons

Home sweet home is a term that’s foreign to West Ham United this season as despite a change in managers with Nuno Espirito Santo replacing Graham Potter there’s still a fair amount of unhappiness among the rank and file who follow the club.

Disgruntled fans are still planning to boycott the Premier League match against Brentford at the London Stadium in protest at the way the board run the club and many are expected to show their displeasure by staying away from the Monday Night Football fixture.

Their frustrations are centred around the owner’s transfer policy with not enough spent on quality players needed to supplement the star quality supplied by Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Pacqueta.

The Hammers traditionally play an entertaining brand of football laced with vim and vigour and Nuno’s low press and counter-attacking philosophy may not sit well with the home crowd over the long haul if results do not significantly improve.

A success at Wolves , where expectations were not high, then he bombed during an ill-fated spell in charge at Tottenham , where he still lasted longer than Ange Postecoglou managed at the City Ground after replacing him following a 3-0 home defeat which – ironically – was against the Hammers.

Forest’s form tailed away when it really mattered at the end of last season when their Champions League aspirations imploded with just two wins in their last nine games, one of which was at West Ham so the new boss rapidly turning fortunes around is not a given.

The Irons’ only success this term was that victory at Forest and they have conceded ten goals in their three home defeats to Chelsea, Spurs and Crystal Palace and have yet to score more than once in a league outing, leaving Nuno needing to solve problems in every department in his first game in charge at the London Stadium.

Brentford have played well at home, taking all their seven points off Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester United and they gave a good account of themselves in the 1-0 defeat against visiting Manchester City in the last game before the international break.

Their away form has not been as efficient but while they have lost at Forest, Sunderland and Fulham in the league they have at least managed to score in all of those matches which means the Bees should be able to at least gain a point from this capital confrontation if they can continue that trend.

Take the draw at 12/5 with William Hill, BetVictor and BetMGM while 1-1 is 11/2 with Hills and a host of others. Bowen is the obvious choice to score for the hosts at 21/10 with Ladbrokes, Coral and more while Kevin Schade is 3/1 to find the net for the visitors.

Nottingham Forest are about to become the new Watford by appointing a third manager this season after Ange Postecoglou’s reign came to an abrupt halt after just 39 days in charge at the City Ground.

It was announced that the former Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur boss had the keys to his office door taken away just 21 minutes after the 3-0 defeat at home to Chelsea on Saturday and Sean Dyche is the 1/2 favourite with Hills to be the next to occupy the hot-seat. Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, who has also been in charge of Forest’s bitter rivals Leicester, is 2/1 with the same firm, bet365, Paddy Power and more.

Evangelos Marinakis is reputed to be a huge fan of Fulham manager Marco Silva, however, and although it would cost a fair bit in compensation to lure him away from Craven Cottage the Greek magnate has deep pockets and a willingness to spend which makes the former Everton boss worth a dabble at 16/1 with BetVictor.

Opposing quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff have thrown for a combined 1,929 yards and 26 touchdowns between them as the NFL season reaches week seven so the Monday Night Football showdown between the 5-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 4-2 Detroit Lions should be a high-scoring humdinger.

The Motor City men were beaten last time out by the Kansas City Chiefs and a depleted defense means their record of not losing consecutive games since starting Dan Campbell’s second season in charge with a 1-6 record is set to grind to a halt.
