Nottingham Forest midfielder set for first England call-up

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson is set to be named in the England squad for the first time today.

Thomas Tuchel will name his squad for September’s World Cup qualifiers with Andorra and Serbia at 2pm BST.

Anderson is set to be recognised with a first call-up, according to The Athletic.

The 22-year-old was a key part of the England u-21 side that won the European Championship over the summer, where he was named in the Team of the Tournament.

Anderson has made a bright start to the Premier League campaign and assisted Chris Wood during Forest’s 3-1 win over Brentford on the opening weekend.

Across the opening two fixtures he leads all Premier League players for progressive passes (22) and passes into the final third (21), and also ranks among the division’s top 10 players for crosses, touches, progressive carrying distance and dribblers tackled.
