He had previously been the main anchor for the Sunday show, Match of the Day 2.

And Chapman opened up on his baffling tradition throughout last season.

It is one he thought he had got away with, too.

But his eagle-eyed co-presenter somehow actually picked up on it.

Speaking to Logan on The Sports Agents podcast, he said: "If you always look dishevelled, people never question it.

"Gabby, you always set a high bar, you always do look - I don't want to make you sound like a dog - very well groomed.

"I'm trying to make an effort a bit more with Match of the Day .

"Nobody noticed this - I've told you - but last year I wore the same black number for every single Match of the Day 2."

Logan immediately replied: "Oh I noticed that."

Chapman questioned: "Did you?"

And Logan explained: "Yes I did. I notice a lot about what men wear on sports presentation and sports punditry.

"Because quite often throughout my career, not now as clearly the landscape's changed, I was often the only girl and woman in those environments. I always felt I had to wear the colour."

Laughing Logan continued: "And then I started working with Robbie Savage sometime in the mid 2000s and he brought pink to the table, lilac polos and things like that

"But yeah, I did notice the black jumper and I was going to intervene!"

Chapman hosted the first MOTD of the post-Lineker era to kick off the new 2025-26 Premier League season - before Logan took MOTD2 duties on the Sunday.
