Napoli set to renew pursuit of Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo

Napoli are reportedly preparing a renewed bid to sign Kobbie Mainoo (20) from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports .

The Serie A champions are long-term admirers of the 20-year-old midfielder, having failed in an attempt to lure him to Naples over the summer. Mainoo, who has struggled for regular minutes under United manager Ruben Amorim, is believed to be open to a move that would offer more consistent first-team football.

Mainoo requested a loan exit in August, but United were reluctant to let him leave, viewing the academy graduate as an integral part of their long-term project. However, with opportunities limited and competition fierce in midfield, a winter departure, permanent or otherwise, could now be reconsidered.

Napoli have enjoyed recent success recruiting from Old Trafford, with Scott McTominay and Rasmus Højlund both thriving in Italy after leaving Manchester. The club’s hierarchy reportedly view Mainoo as a similarly promising talent capable of adapting to Serie A’s technical demands.

While United are yet to comment, Napoli’s persistence signals growing confidence that a deal can be struck, potentially offering Mainoo a fresh platform to revive his career abroad.
