Marinakis confident Nottingham Forest can ‘challenge for trophies’ under Postecoglou
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has called Ange Postecoglou a ‘proven’ winner and believes the club can challenge for trophies under the new head coach.
Postecoglou has been appointed as new head coach at The City Ground, following the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo.
The latter left the club on Monday amid rising tensions between him and the club’s board. Espirito Santo’s exit comes just months after leading Forest to European qualification for the first time in three decades.
Postecoglou picks up the reins after being sacked at Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. The Australian led Spurs to Europa League success in 2024/25 despite a disappointing 17th-place Premier League finish. He previously won league titles in Scotland, Japan and Australia.

Marinikas believes Postecoglou is the perfect coach to lead Forest’s ambitious growth.
“We are bringing a coach to the Club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies,” he said.
“His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions.
“After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies. Ange has the credentials and the track-record to do this, and we are excited he is joining us on our ambitious journey.”
