In a recent report , Fichajes revealed that Manchester United could reignite their interest in Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher this January. It has been stated that the Red Devils are planning to move in for the English midfielder after failing to land him in this summer transfer window.

Gallagher had a decent campaign at the Spanish club recently as he put in a series of influential displays at the centre of Diego Simeone’s midfield. The English talent made 50 appearances for the Madrid outfit last season, scoring four times and picking up six assists across multiple competitions.

The 25-year-old anchored the midfield well after he made 45 tackles, 23 blocks, 20 interceptions and 23 clearances in La Liga . He was even accurate when distributing possession from midfield, based on his pass success rate of 85% in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com ).

His current contract at the Wanda Metropolitano will expire in the summer of 2029. Thus, it won’t be easy for Man United to lure Gallagher to Old Trafford on a cut-price deal next year.

Gallagher is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team at the centre of the park. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The English sensation is already familiar with the Premier League from his time at Chelsea and has what it takes to make an immediate impact at Man United .

Gallagher would bring more energy and dynamism to Ruben Amorim’s midfield department. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford over the next few years.

At 25, Gallagher has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for Man United’s needs in the long run. He could help the Red Devils push for a top-four finish in the Premier League in the coming seasons.
