Shea Lacey was one of three promising young players who had the chance to impress Thomas Tuchel after training with the England senior team on Wednesday.

The Three Lions are currently preparing for a big friendly against Wales on Thursday before a World Cup qualifier with Latvia next week. And while the usual faces were involved in training on the eve of England's game with Wales, it has now emerged that three up-and-coming stars were also at St. Georges' Park, including Lacey.

Lacey, 18, is one of Manchester United 's most promising prospects and has already caught the eye among the Red Devils coaching staff. Per The Mail , United's young attacking midfielder was also joined by Lakyle Samuel, a 19-year-old Manchester City defender who has impressed on loan in League Two with Bromley, and Harrison Murray-Campbell, also 19 and a defender for Chelsea .

Lacey was handed a squad number - 61 - ahead of the 2025-26 campaign and featured for United in pre-season. He, Samuel and Murray-Campbell have all been named in the England Under-20 squad and could feature when they face Switzerland on Friday.

While Lacey and Co were involved on Wednesday, there was no Harry Kane on the St. Georges' Park pitches as the England captain is struggling with an ankle injury .

Kane did not participate in training with the rest of his team-mates after suffering a knock in Bayern Munich's 3-0 win over against Eintracht Frankfurt. And the 32-year-old, who was replaced by Nicolas Jackson after receiving treatment late in the game, is now a major doubt for England's big game with Wales.

He joined Jarell Quansah by taking part in an indoor routine at St. Georges' Park and could be replaced by Ollie Watkins or Marcus Rashford in Tuchel's starting XI on Thursday night.

His absence will come as a blow to Tuchel, who lauded the former Tottenham talisman as the "best striker of his generation" recently. Speaking to Sport Bild, the England boss said: “He is undoubtedly the best striker of his generation. He has reached a new level and is now scoring two goals per game.

“He’s in full flow; you can feel the confidence he carries Bayern Munich and the Three Lions with ease on his shoulders. He’s in top form, and I’m glad to have him as captain.”
