Manchester United are reportedly set to stop the departure of some players during the January transfer window .

The Reds brought in four new signings over the summer as Ruben Amorim geared up for his first full season at the helm at Old Trafford. Since then, United have moved up to sixth place in the Premier League table and have emerged victorious in each of their top-flight matches.

One of the summer acquisitions was Bryan Mbeumo , who has netted five times since his switch from Brentford. However, United will likely soon be without the forward's services.

Mbeumo is tipped to be included in the Cameroon squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for December and January. If chosen, the 26-year-old will be unavailable for United during Cameroon's participation in the tournament, potentially missing a number of club games, reports the Manchester Evening News .

As a result, The Sun state that United have decided not to allow certain players to exit the club in January.

Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo are two players rumoured to potentially be on the move away from United during the winter window.

Over the weekend, it was reported that Zirkzee is planning to request a transfer away from United in the upcoming window, with West Ham United leading the chase to offer the Dutch international.

The 24-year-old managed to score just seven goals in 49 appearances across all competitions last season.

This season, Zirkzee has only made four appearances, with his last league goal for United dating back to December last year, a whole 10 months ago. There's also been speculation about Mainoo potentially making a midseason exit from the Red Devils.

However, the report claims that should either player express a wish to depart Old Trafford, United won't let them go in the New Year .

Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui might also be called up for the Africa Cup of Nations, which would mean they'd be out of action for United for several weeks.

The departures of Mbeumo, Amad and Mazraoui for the Africa Cup of Nations could see more minutes given to Zirkzee and Mainoo, as well as several other players in the United squad.
