Man Utd secret weapon takes action in £100m Carlos Baleba transfer chase

Manchester United's summer recruit Bryan Mbeumo is trying to persuade his international teammate Carlos Baleba to join him at Old Trafford. Ruben Amorim wants to bolster his midfield and has been linked with a move for Baleba since the summer transfer window.
United had previously approached Brighton about a potential deal for Baleba in the summer, but were deterred by Seagulls chairman Tony Bloom's firm stance . "I don't think Baleba was a saga," he told the Argus .
"There was interest from Manchester United , and we said that he wasn't available this summer and they went away. So we've had many bigger sagas in the past.
"But Carlos Baleba, his improvement has been immense. Massively important player to this football club, and just delighted that he's with us for this season."
Despite not reaching his previous performance levels at Brighton this season, Baleba remains a target for United although there are rumours that Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton may now be their priority .
However, as first reported by The Sun , Mbeumo is still doing his best to facilitate a move for Baleba to Old Trafford. The pair, both on international duty with Cameroon, have been spending quality time together, with Mbeumo reportedly taking on a 'big brother' role to the 21-year-old.

Both players featured in the 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Mauritius on Wednesday, October 8. They were also back in action in the 0-0 draw with Angola on Monday.
The results meant that Cameroon finished in second place behind Cape Verde in their World Cup qualification group.
They will now take on DR Congo in a qualification play-off next month. Should they get through that semi-final, then they set up a final against either Nigeria or Gabon.
It is suggested that any potential transfer for Baleba to move to United is more likely to occur next summer rather than in the imminent January window.
With the Premier League set to resume this weekend, both players will be returning to their respective clubs. However, Mbeumo will have another opportunity to sway Baleba next month when Cameroon take on DR Congo in a World Cup qualifier.
