Man Utd relegation alarm bells ringing as Supercomputer makes bombshell prediction

Manchester United are three times more likely to be relegated than they are to qualify for the Europa League - according to a supercomputer. The Red Devils have endured a horror start and four games in have been given a lofty 10.95 per cent chance of going down.

Following defeat in the Manchester derby Ruben Amorim's side lie in 14th with four points from their first four games - their lowest total since 1992/93. It follows on from their worst ever Premier League season, which saw them finish 15th, and now even further depths are being discussed.

Once a team who won league titles annually, over the past decade top-four has been the remit. But the stats at Opta have suggested that United has a 4.18 per cent chance for landing a Champions League spot and just a 0.18 per cent chance of winning the Premier League.

Relegation would be scarcely believable for those at Old Trafford, especially after they yet again spent more than £200million this summer on the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. But those behind all the stats insist of all the major outcomes that could happen on the red side of Manchester relegation is more than twice as likely than any qualification for European football - which is a damning reflection of the club at present.

Amorim is nearing his year anniversary in the job and he has shown no sign of taking the club forward. Even in his opening few months in charge, after a December that saw United lose five times, he was forced to admit that the Red Devils were in the midst of a relegation scrap.

After a loss to Newcastle last term he confessed: "That is really clear [United are being dragged into a relegation battle] so we have to fight. It is a really difficult moment for us, one of the more difficult moments in the history of Manchester United and we have to address it with honesty."

United will not be addressing any potential relegation fears four games into the season, even if their only win of the season came courtesy of a Bruno Fernandes penalty in stoppage time against Burnley . The loss to Manchester City gives Amorim's record more of a grim reading - and he admits it is not good enough.

"I won't change my philosophy," said the Portuguese coach. "If they [United hierarchy] want it changed, you change the man. I am not going to change my philosophy. I will play my way until I want to change. Guys, I understand [the questions] and I accept it is not a record you should have at Man United. But there are a lot of things that you have no idea about what happen in the last months.

"I understand everything. It is normal [if fans are losing faith], but I don't accept that we are not doing better. We are doing better and the results don't show that, but the record says everything, I understand."
