Man Utd news: "Best winger in England" tipped to join as Wharton conditions emerge

Despite the vast sums spent improving Manchester United 's attack in the summer, the club are being touted for another major signing who can help the goal drought. That's after former England playmaker Chris Waddle backed the Red Devils to recruit Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.
The Ghana international will cost a pretty penny, however, having carried on his form with a superb start to the new season. And the same could be said for Crystal Palace sensation Adam Wharton after enjoying his own fruitful campaign to date.
United are understood to be lining up a move for English midfielder but there's already a major spanner in the works. Mirror Football delves into the latest rumours and headlines surrounding United as the Red Devils prepare to return from the international break.
Only Erling Haaland (10) has racked up more direct goal involvements than Semenyo (nine) so far this season. So it's little wonder the winger is attracting interest from some Premier League powerhouses.
Bournemouth feel their player, who signed a new five-year contract in July, is worth upwards of £75million. However, Chris Waddle believes the Red Devils would be making a smart investment by targeting the 25-year-old.
"Antoine Semenyo, the winger at Bournemouth, is definitely the best [in the Premier League ] right now," Waddle told BestBettingSites . "Semenyo is good at scoring goals, he’s positive, and he gets good goals. When he gets the ball he drives at players.
"I think Bournemouth will struggle to hold onto him. He’s really talented, and the best winger in the country right now."
Much has been made of United not boasting the same appeal to players as they once did. The club aren't featuring in European competitions this season, which will inevitably be an obstacle to certain players wanting to head to Old Trafford.
However, Waddle is assured the Red Devils will be back to their best at some point in the future. And he believes the allure is still sufficient to land a player of Semenyo's quality.

"People might question why someone would want to join Manchester United right now, but they will come good again, and they’re a huge club still," he added. "If Semenyo went to United, he could play just as he is for Bournemouth and be ideal for them. He could play alongside Matheus Cunha, and then he and Benjamin Sesko could spark into life."
Those comments don't account for another signing, Bryan Mbeumo, who didn't come cheap given United paid an initial £65m. And adding more new talent to the attack becomes complicated given the sums already spent upgrading this past summer.
It seems only a matter of time before Wharton becomes the latest star at Crystal Palace to complete a big-money move elsewhere. And Eagles chairman Steve Parish has suggested United will be at a disadvantage as long as they're without Champions League football.
Wharton, 21, is reportedly poised to become the subject of a £60m offer from the Red Devils . However, Parish clarified the player's intentions to feature among Europe's finest and there's no guarantee of Champions League participation in United's future.

"I think Adam at some point will want to play either in the Champions League with us, if we can make that happen, or probably with another club," he told talkSPORT . "He's an extraordinary talent. I think right now, and I can't speak for Adam, but I think he's focused on his time at Crystal Palace.
"He had a broken season last season with the groin issues that he had that a lot of young players get. I think this season he's completely focused on putting the games in, getting in the England squad, being a regular for us, and making sure that he can show that Saturday, Sunday, Thursday, Sunday.
"It's a difficult programme for us right now. I think he's very committed to the club. I don't know where all this stuff comes from."
The Red Devils failed to qualify for any form of continental competition this term after a record-low 15th-place league finish last season.
Ruben Amorim's side moved up to 10th after winning their last three home games but they're still waiting on a first away victory of the campaign.
Wharton, who has watched the likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze leave Palace for huge teams in the last 18 months, now stands clear as arguably Palace's most valuable asset. The Eagles are involved in Europe themselves this season as they compete for the Europa Conference League but United could one day fulfil even loftier aspirations.
