Charles Vernam broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, drilling a shot into the bottom-left corner.

Former Man Utd academy graduate Tyrell Warren then doubled the advantage for the hosts on the half-hour mark.

The latest setback for Amorim left United fans absolutely furious, with some even calling for the head coach to be sacked immediately.

One person wrote: "Amorim needs to be sacked before I wake up tomorrow morning. Just so you know I have an early morning shift!"

Another commented: "Amorim has to decide between his system or his job, I like him and he needs time but this system is too easy and predictable to play against."

A third said: "Amorim has to resign. This setup is terrible, can build up well against Grimsby."

A fourth added: "Ugarte and Amorim not allowed on the bus back."

While another commented: "I’ve been a big supporter of Amorim but this is beyond unacceptable.

"No Manchester United manager should be able to walk away from this kind of performance unscathed regardless of the full-time result."
