Man United to extend surprise player’s deal as ‘top clubs’ circle for 2026 move, Amorim doesn’t want him

Manchester United are poised to activate the one-year option in Jadon Sancho’s contract to protect his resale value heading into the new year.

Indeed, while Sancho has no future at Old Trafford , United are keen to receive at least some fee from his departure rather than watching a player they paid £73 million for leave for nothing next June.

Football Insider confirmed United’s intentions last week before providing a further update today revealing the winger is garnering interest from ‘top clubs’.

On deadline day, Sancho completed a surprise move to Aston Villa on a season-long loan , where he’ll hope to reignite his most prolific form in the same environment Marcus Rashford spent the second half of 2024/2025.

There is no buy option or obligation included in the agreement between both sides, meaning the 25-year-old will return to Manchester next summer – just as he did three months ago when Chelsea paid a £5m penalty to bypass their £25m buy clause.

However, it’s thought Unai Emery would be open to taking Sancho off United’s hands permanently so long as he impresses in the coming months.

After narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification on the final day of last season, Villa are preparing for a campaign that’ll test their resolve in the Europa League. As such, depth will be absolutely crucial if they’re to progress to the later stages of the competitions whilst also competing at the top end of the table in the Premier League.

“A number of top clubs will be keeping tabs on Jadon Sancho,” transfer reporter Pete O’Rourke told FI .

“They’ll see how he gets on at Aston Villa because a lot of clubs were interested in the summer.”

Now that the Englishman has clearly played his final game for the Reds, he will leave with a record of just 12 goals and six assists in 83 appearances.
