Liverpool handed fresh injury concern for Man Utd clash as statement issued

Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of midfield star Ryan Gravenberch ahead of their Premier League clash with Manchester United . The former Bayern Munich ace lasted just 45 minutes in Netherlands' win over Finland

Ronald Koeman's side eased to a 4-0 victory with goals from fellow Reds Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo but Arne Slot won't have been left celebrating following Gravenberch's issue. The Dutchman suffered a hamstring problem and was replaced by Manchester City's Tijjani Reijnders.

Koeman revealed following the match that they did not want to take any risks over the Liverpool star's condition. "Ryan indicated he had some minor hamstring problems. Of course, we didn’t take any risks with that," he said.

Gravenberch confirmed after the game that it was a precautionary measure. The 23-year-old suggested it was only partially an issue with fitness.

Gravenberch said: "It was partly fitness related. The season is long, so it was a precaution. I’m feeling good and I have the coach’s confidence."

It is not the first injury issue to arise for Liverpool during the international break. Ibrahima Konate departed France's squad before they flew to Iceland this weekend.

The central defender is still recovering from an issue he picked up against Chelsea . Konate had been undergoing his own programme due to a thigh injury but Les Bleus decided to release him back to Anfield given his condition.

Wataru Endo has also missed Japan's friendlies with a hamstring issue. Injury issues do not end there for Slot either.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is set to miss the clash against United this weekend . The Brazilian shotstopper is not expected back until at least the end of the month due to a thigh injury.

"It's clear that he's not there on Saturday, and clearly, he is not going to play for Brazil," Slot said before the international break. "I would be surprised if he would be there for the first game after the international break, but from there on, things can go faster or a bit slower."

Andy Robertson did prove fit enough for Scotland 's World Cup qualifying games after he limped off at full time against Chelsea however. The defender was captain as Scotland earned a 2-1 win at home to Belarus to ensure at least a play-off spot.
