Kylian Mbappe says 'the more money you have, the more problems'

KYLIAN MBAPPE reckons his problems have piled up since he started earning mega money.

The Real Madrid superstar, 26, is pocketing a reported £1.2MILLION per week in the Spanish capital, but has claimed that the unthinkable cash comes with caveats.

Mbappe, who is tied to that Bernabeu deal until 2029, opened up about it all in a candid interview with French outlet L'Equipe .

He said: "The more money you have, the more problems you have.

"There are people who don't see that your life is changing; they want to maintain the image of when you were a child, when you were with them, but you're not the same anymore.

"You have responsibilities, commitments, a job, and accounts to keep."

Mbappe reckons that money isn't as easily earned as it looks from the outside, suggesting fans only see a small portion of the hard work that goes into being a footballer.

While he claimed that, if it wasn't for his passion for the game, he would already be "disgusted" by football .

He explained: "I'm fatalistic about the world of football, but not about life. Life is magnificent. Football is what it is.

"I like to say that people who go to the stadium are lucky enough to come just to see a show and not know what goes on behind the scenes.

"Honestly, if I didn't have this passion, the world of football would have disgusted me a long time ago."

But that doesn't mean that Mbappe is resting on his laurels, in fact, the World Cup winner reckons he is more demanding of himself than most.

And he clearly wants to play, admitting that he often cries when he suffers injuries.

That said, Mbappe knows that football is still a job and ultimately his main source of income.

That's why the forward felt he had to take former employer PSG to court over £55MILLION in unpaid wages following his move to Real Madrid last summer.

Explaining the decision, he said: "It's my responsibility by law - it's labor law.

"The procedure gave the impression that I wanted to harm PSG. I signed an employment contract. I just wanted to be paid. I have nothing against PSG, I love this club, I have friends there.

"But it's the only way to get what they owe me, something I've earned with the sweat of my brow. Whether you like it or not, it's still a job."

Mbappe reckons he could have "started a scandal" while still playing for the Parisians after noticing he wasn't being paid full whack.

But the Frenchman, who played for PSG over 300 times, said he told himself it "wasn't worth it".

Now Mbappe is fully focused on new club Real Madrid and returning to the biggest stage with France at the World Cup this summer.

So much so that he claims he has "no regrets" about leaving PSG before they clinched the Champions League last season.

Mbappe will, of course, be hoping to get his hands on club football's most prestigious trophy this summer.

But it is a second World Cup that he is dreaming of too, telling L'Equipe that the current crop of French talent has "endless" potential.

He said: "It's the most talented team, yes. The strongest, not yet. The one with the most potential, yes. It's endless. In every position, they play as starters for the best clubs in the world. That's all.

"But as a team, we're still no stronger than the team that won the World Cup in 2018 or the one that reached the final in 2022. Does this team have the potential to be the best? 100 per cent.

"Will it be? It depends on us. We have to be ambitious with players of this quality."
