Just in – Key Barcelona attacker set to return for El Clasico after resuming group training

After securing their biggest victory of the season – a 6-1 win over Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League – FC Barcelona will now shift their focus back to La Liga, where a blockbuster clash awaits.

Come Sunday, the reigning champions of Spain go up against the current table-toppers and arch-rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first El Clasico of the season.

Leading up to the contest, FC Barcelona have received a major boost as key winger Raphinha has resumed group training.

Indeed, the Brazilian international completed part of the training session with the group today and everything suggests that he will be available to face Real Madrid on Sunday, according to Javi Miguel of AS .

Raphinha’s absence, for almost a month after suffering a right hamstring injury, has been deeply felt within the team.

Manager Hansi Flick has repeatedly highlighted the winger’s importance, not only for his work rate and intensity on the pitch, but also for his leadership and influence in the dressing room.

If his recovery continues positively, the plan is for Raphinha to complete a full session with the group on Thursday and receive medical clearance by Saturday.

Although he is unlikely to start against Real Madrid given his recent inactivity, his presence on the bench would provide a significant morale boost for the squad.

This is a welcome boost for the Blaugrana , who also welcomed Ferran Torres back from a muscle strain this week.

The Spaniard was named in the squad for last night’s win over Olympiacos, but did not play. However, he should be ready for action come Sunday’s El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.
