Just in: Barcelona midfielder leaves Spain training with injury; doubt vs Georgia

Problems continue to mount for FC Barcelona with regard to injuries as one of their first-team stars seem to have picked up a fresh problem while on national team duty.

Indeed, according to MARCA , Spain midfielder Dani Olmo was forced to withdraw from training this morning after sustaining a blow to his calf, which not only comes as a blow for Luis de la Fuente, but also a concern for Barça .

As things stand, the 27-year-old attacking midfielder’s participation in the World Cup qualifying match against Georgia on Saturday is almost entirely ruled out.

The absence of the Barcelona midfielder would represent a new setback for Spain. After all, Olmo remains a key player for De la Fuente and had been expected to start against Georgia.

Although he has not had the best start to the season with Barcelona , the coaching staff of the national team maintains full confidence in him.

He is scheduled to undergo medical tests later this Friday afternoon to determine the extent of the injury.

Should his absence be confirmed, he would join Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal on the list of unavailable players – three significant losses for Spain.

Barcelona will also be closely monitoring the situation, especially considering how Spain had handled the injury of Lamine during the last international break.

Olmo had become a regular starter for the Catalans in recent games due to Fermin Lopez’s absence, and losing him as well would represent a significant concern for Hansi Flick & co.

While Fermin is expected to be available right after the international break , given that he has been out for three weeks, the attacking midfielder will need time to regain his rhythm.

And not having Olmo available during this period, especially given the packed fixture schedule, will raise alarms at Barcelona , despite the Spaniard’s poor form so far this term.
