Jon Humble: Former Man United employee passes away
Manchester United have said goodbye to a former staff member earlier this week.
The club’s official website reports that, “Manchester United is mourning the loss of our friend Jon Humble, who has passed away at the age of 44 after a short illness.”
“Jon was part of our kit staff for six years, most recently as women’s kit lead, before leaving the club in August 2025 for a new role at Liverpool.”
The club statement also reads that, “he was much loved by everyone in the women’s team, and he will be missed by his many friends and colleagues across the Barclays WSL.”
Humble also worked with the boy’s Academy and was deeply loved across the whole club and at Carrington.
United fullback Jayde Riviere paid her respects to Humble on social media with a heartfelt message.
She posted on X, “completely devastated. Rest easy Jon xx”
Riviere also commented on a photo of Humble, “you were more than just a kit man to us. You were the glue of the team. You put up with all our requests, remembered all the little details and most of all, you were the loveliest human being.”

His most recent employers Liverpool also paid tribute to Humble.
They added, “Liverpool FC is deeply saddened by the passing of women’s first team kit manager Jonathan Humble, following a sudden illness.”
Their statement went on to read, “the thoughts of everyone at the club are with Jon’s family, friends and loved ones at this sad time.”
Humble had previously worked at 1874 Northwich FC as kit manager between 2018 and 2019.
He joined United in 2019 as a kit assistant to the men’s first team before becoming kit coordinator in the men’s academy. He would take on the role of Kit and Equipment lead of the women’s team in 2023.
