Joe Gomez supported by Liverpool teammates as training update gets two-word response

Joe Gomez has received backing from numerous Liverpool teammates following his latest social media post. The Reds defender is still on the comeback trail and hopes to feature in the squad that takes on Burnley in the Premier League this weekend.
Gomez faced intense speculation about a potential departure from Liverpool during the closing stages of the summer transfer window. The defender attracted interest from Brighton and AC Milan before the window shut, but Gomez ultimately stayed put at Anfield despite the rumours around his future swirling.
Gomez was sidelined for a significant spell due to injury during the previous campaign. The 27-year-old returned to the matchday squad for the Premier League curtain-raiser against Bournemouth , marking his comeback more than six months since his last appearance for the club in February.
On Thursday, Gomez shared a post from Liverpool's most recent training session on Instagram . The upload featured no caption and contained three images, including one with Jeremie Frimpong, who has been rehabilitating from a muscle problem during the international break.
Frimpong responded to the post with a comment saying: "My guy" alongside a red love heart emoji. Frimpong also gave Gomez's post a like, as did Virgil van Dijk, Wataru Endo, Cody Gakpo , Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Rio Ngumoha and Jayden Danns.
Ex-Liverpool players Darwin Nunez, Kostas Tsimikas, Jordan Henderson , Tyler Morton, Luis Diaz and Caoimhin Kelleher also showed their support by liking Gomez's post. Gomez has yet to make a starting appearance for Liverpool this season under Arne Slot but has featured twice from the bench in the Premier League .
With seven matches scheduled over the next three weeks, Gomez could see plenty of action before the next international break. Liverpool begin their Champions League campaign just three days after travelling to Turf Moor, while a Merseyside Derby in the league and a Carabao Cup third round game against Southampton isn't too far away.

Gomez's two brief run-outs have helped allay fears after another injury scare in pre-season. He was sent home from the Reds' pre-season tour as a precaution, but this didn't stop him linking up with the squad in August.
"We thought it was better to assess it back in England and for him to work on him to come back to the team, probably in more ideal circumstances for him than be part of the group that every time goes out," Liverpool boss Arne Slot said in July. "So, we decided to let him go back to England. But we hope and expect to have him back soon."
