'I starred in Green Street as West Ham hooligan but actually support Tottenham'

The international break has come to an end, and the Premier League is back in action with a classic London derby to look forward to on Saturday evening. In addition to Millwall taking on Charlton, West Ham will be welcoming their fierce rivals Tottenham to East London for a 5.30pm start.

The rivalry between West Ham and Spurs is well-known and was even brought to global attention two decades ago in the film Green Street. Charlie Hunnam's character, Pete Dunham, famously ridiculed Tottenham for having both a "s***" football team and firm.

Another key character in the film was Leo Gregory, 46, who portrayed a fictional Inter City Firm hooligan named Bovver.

Bovver quickly became a fan favourite in the movie, where he turned traitor by tipping off members of Millwall's firm about a "journo" within the West Ham ranks.

In real life, Leo is indeed a massive football enthusiast and might well be at the London Stadium this weekend, but he won't be rooting for the players in claret and blue.

That's because Leo is actually a huge Spurs supporter, despite many still thinking he supports the Hammers.

Earlier this year in May, Bovver shared a clip from the film on his Instagram page, and one person commented: "Must have been hard playing a West Ham hooligan when you're a massive spurs fan. COYS."

Responding, Leo said: "Nah was alright I was Bovver in those moments not me."

Adding a cheeky wink, he then received a reply: "Fair enough. Would you have done it if it was Arsenal though?"

Leo responded with two laughing emojis, prompting another fan to comment: "Broke my heart finding out you're Spurs."

A third chimed in: "Classic film remember like yesterday can't believe that was 20 years ago where has time gone my man."

Leo once revealed that the success of Green Street helped fund his trips to watch his beloved Tottenham play both home and away. He's also known for his playful jibes at West Ham fans.

He previously told All News Press : "With this film, West Ham financed my season to follow the Spurs. The funniest thing is when Hammers pounce on me seeing me around their stadium for a derby. They yell 'Bovver, Bovver' and ask me for an autograph. I still sign THFC [Tottenham Hotspur Football Club], they are shocked and I love it."
